Levan Here are some cheap, and rather splendid cut-out models available from good book retailers (most available on-line too).
Most of these books/models are best suited to children aged between seven (who might need help) and thirteen. Also, these models would make good templates for those wanting to create something more ambitious in other materials.

Levan Traquair House has a cut-out model available as a souvenir.
It's quite a simple model to make - certainly our ten year old managed its construction without difficulty.
I would suggest that best results require a lot of care during folding and cutting out. I also think that it would be best to reinforce the model with thicker scrap card. Finished results were fine, particularly once the model was weathered in a similar fashion to that done typically by railway modellers.

Traquair House is an extended tower-house. It also claims to be the longest continually inhabited in Scotland.

Castles to cut out & put together, published by Bellerphon Books, models by Nick Taylor. Has a model of the White Tower and the keep and inner ward of Chateau Gaillard.
wurdsmiff Also applaud the list. Incidently, my 11 year old daughter much appreciated the Lego Castles link. Nicola has tried to persuade me to spend all my hard earned wages so that she has enough lego to attempt one of them. Think I'll look for one of your books next time I'm in Smiths as an alternative.
