Burg Pfalzgrafenstein in Germany http://www.burgenwelt.de/pfalz/pfalz.htm Lastours, a series of four small castles built by the Cathars. Kreidenturm, a very simple, partly ruined castle in Northern Italy, here; http://www.dickemauern.de/kreidet/kreidet.htm Castle at Prato, in Central Italy. Here's a link to a website which contains plans for making a model of Castle Levan using Lego bricks - there are also pictures of the model at different stages of construction. You could actually use the plans for making a model out of different materials. An example of an L-Plan tower is a model of Craigmillar castle - this has also got a curtain wall, which I guess many folks like to have on model castles. While you are browsing this site, take a look at the other castles that Dr Bob Carney has constructed - many are simply stunning. incidentally, this web site is a great source of plans and elevations - ideal for use in model making. LevanErik Schmidt Here is an excellent site with several castles, some with reconstructive drawings, plans and photos; http://web.utanet.at/aigner15/index.html
Just click on 'Burgen' on the left to see list with pictures.
Click on 'Ansichten' for more views, and Grundrißplan for plan.

This is a French site which contains plans and lots of pics, although it's slow to load.
The plan has links to images so you can see what part of the structure you are looking at and from which direction.
A book(in French) is available;
'Cabaret : histoire et archéologie d'un castrum. Les fouilles du site médiéval de Cabaret à Lastours'

Click on Grundrißplan to see a plan. You will notice the outer wall is ruined. It would have been 5-8m high with a narrow wallwalk and crennelation. There is a building at one end which would have been one or two floors. You could choose to build it as it is now, or do some research and try to reconstruct how it may have looked taking inspiration from existing castles.

Tower-houses are typically very simple rectangular four-storey towers, some are L-Plan or have two towers butted together (like Castle Levan), others have many turrets and other features (that are loved by Disney and such like). The main thing is that the towers are all in essence very similar and very simple. You could base your model on a real castle, or even start with a real plan, but add your own imaginary features.
