dmcclure My son is studying the Midievil Times and has been assigned the project of finding out what "Rocky Ledges" are and how they relate to Midievil Times. Could someone clarify it for me? Thanks.

deborahknowles Is it anything to do with where castles were built? i.e. on rocky ledges, for defence? I can think of some if it helps? Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland and Tintagel in Cornwall are both rocky, ledgey type places.

Gordon Rocky ledges are....well rocky ledges, same in medieval times as they are now I suppose.
I wouldn't call anything wide enough to build a castle on a ledge, a ledge implying something a bit more narrow...like Peter, I don't get it. I'd get back to your son's teacher and ask for more explanation.
