Well, different people would think of different royalty. Myself, I would think of those like Elisabeth the first who ruled england in her golden years(england's golden years that is). I also think of Edward III and his fight with the French in the Hundred years war. At this time England won some amazing battles. Edward I aswell comes to mind. His quest to unit Scotland, Wales and Irland into one country of England.
Richard cour de lion as well. He was an amazing ruler, leading one of the more succesful Crusades.
Those are just the first that spring to mind, let me know if you need any more detail on them.

There is only one famous royal and that is Richard lll, who still has a very strong society fighting to clear his name and thats after over 500 years, who publish 4 journals a year, no other king or queen of England has that. Everybody has an opinion on him and its always good or bad there's no in between, he is and always will be an enigma!

Merlin If your report has anything to do with medieval times and/or castles (and I think so when you're posting at CQ), then you should not forget King William I., called 'the Conqueror'. He and his invasion from normandy in 1066 AD mark one of the most important points in english history and the developement of castles (f.e. the Tower of London).
Levan Henry VIII was probably one of the most famous kings of England - though best known for his six wives, inability to produce a legitimate male heir and profligate lifestyle.
Apparently Henry was also quite a musician and artist - his architectural ability was supposed to be exceptional (just as well bearing in mind that he tore down much of the best architecture in the country due to his fall-out with the Pope).
Henry built many of the country's coastal defences and rebuilt the Navy - all of which cost a fortune thus the normal folks of England were landed with monstrous taxes and the highest levels of economic inflation that the country has ever known. The teston (a "silver" shilling) was said to have "blushed" – In the 1540's Henry added huge proportions (83%) of copper to the silver coins in an attempt to make more money from less silver – unfortunately this left a red bloom across the coins surface rather embarrassingly giving the game away.
Henry, whilst extremely famous (almost to the point of legend) was typical of many English royals - probably considered by his countrymen to be more of a tyrant than hero.
Many of the other well-known English kings owe their fame to the semi-historical tales woven by Shakespeare. I say semi-historical because it's doubtful (like journalist and novelist today) that a playwright sponsored by the nobility is actually going to portray history without a few flattering embellishments or convenient omissions!

Gordon At risk of sounding a bit pernickity, but as a Scot, no other Scot would let me post to this one without mentioning that the title of the Question indicates 'British Royalty', whilst the main text asks about only English royalty. The two are not the same, unless we refer only to monarchs who regined since 1603, when James 6th of Scotland, became also James 1st of England, and the first Monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Since then, the monarchs of Great Britain have also been Monarchs of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
The most famous of them all must undoubtedly be our current Queen Elizabeth, 2nd of England.......and also apparently 2nd of Scotland though we up here never had an Elizabeth the 1st! This is based on the fact that she is the current monarch, and has all the publicity that goes with that, whilst the others are now consigned to the history books. Of the Kings and Queens since the Act of Union, I reckon that without counting HRH, Victoria is probably known of by the most people, simply due to the massive expansion of the Empire which peaked during her reign, and the trmendous impact that had across the globe.

Levan I concur with Gordon about the 'British' issue. Each nation of the current British Isles had it's own very famous monarchs, for example, Scotland (Canmore/Margaret, Robert the Bruce and even more so, Mary Queen of Scots), Wales (Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, Owen Glendower), and Ireland (Conaire II, Cormac macAirt).
