mattcalI am doing a study on towns in the world called Newcastle, that actually have a castle, can anyone help please?
MerlinAre only interested in the english "Newcastles" or also in the many others in other countries and languages, like french (Neuchâtel, Chateau neuf), italian (Castelnuovo) or german (Neuenburg, Neuburg), ... ???
mattcalI am only interested in English versions of Newcastle, Thanks Simon
LevanYou'll be surprised to hear that during one of my recent visits to Newcastle I decided to visit the castle - ok no surprise there - but what was a surprise was that most of the people I spoke to didn't even think that a actual castle still existed!

I can assure you that it does! Magnificant keep too. Sadly it's hemmed into a fork in a major railway junction, but it still commands a good view over the river.

Very much worth a visit - I've got some decent photos of the castle should you need them.

Levan

NorthumbriaI live in Newcastle, and here's a tiny bit of info that shoudl help you - it is sometimes refffered to as the Castle Garth. I think thsi is because of the gate house next to it. As I live in the same place as the castle, any questions that you need answered, I'd be please to do so.

I intend to view them all by my 18th, and I'm already almost half way through it.
