Also could you tell me the strengths and weaknesses of 15th century castles? Also does anyone know why castles changed form the concentric style to the later style for example at Raglan Castle? I have tried looking all across the internet but i can't find much information about this. I would be so grateful for some help. Thanx Paul Hello Nick, to answer your questions would take an essay, all I can do is point you in the direction of the book by Marc Morris entitled "Castle"
In his book Marc covers the decline of castles and also has a section in reference to Raglan castle and the siege during the English civil war explaining why castles were not the almost impenetrable building that they were in the earlier middle ages. The advent of cannon and mortars changed the whole methodology of castle sieges.
Regards.
