thanks ------------------ ------------------ me again i was also wondering do you know if welsh castles were round or square back then? thanks ------------------ There were no real 'castles' in England or Wales until the mid 1000's, when a couple of Norman Lords installed on the Welsh border by Edward the Confessor built a couple. One was called Richard's Castle. After the Norman Conquest, castles were very common on the Welsh border, due to the Welsh habit of raiding England. The vast majority of the castles built up until 1150 would have been standard 'motte and bailey' castles, mostly of wood. A few would have been 'ringworks' (where the motte was replaced by a circular earthen bank). Only the largest would have been built in stone. thanks for your reply but i have allready finished and handed in the project, thanks anyway ------------------all_star_.94 hi,
