Peter This may be out of place here ..
... but I feel I must express my horror at events that have taken place in a America.
And can only extend my best wishes to all our American friends and contacts in this time of tragedy.
duncan Thank you Peter, but the only thing out place is why it had to happen.
The shock and grief is only starting to set in. The country is pulling together to repair the damage it has sustained.
But not to be forgotten are the many people from other countrys that have lost their lives or the loved ones they left behind.

Peter I've just recieved an e-mail from a friend of mine, who is a reporter.
Works 35-miles from the zone, and lives 50 from the Towers.
She is fine, but reports that they can now spell the fires & fumes in the air.
Yes, this will hit the World.
And to quote .. it will never be the same again. I was a child during the Blitz over here. But now I really understand how my parents felt.
Gordon Whilst the attack took place in the US, and I share the horror of everyone at events, I agree with our own Prime Minister's comments that this was an attck on the entire world.
I do not mean to diminish the loss suffered by Americans, but an estimated 500 Britons are missing, high numbers of Germans, French, Koreans, Mexicans, Irish, Australians, Russians, Chinese......... facts already acknowledged by Duncan. The images themselves are horrific, but when you look at the casualty list and realise how many children died on the planes (those on the ground can only be imagined), one realises how cynically the innocent have been killed.
How anyone who worships any God can justify such an attack is beyond me.

KnightsHonor I... Don't have the words to express how awful this is. I can't even begin to imagine what the people who this happened to are
going through.
Life will ever be the same for anybody after this, I don't think. I live in Massachusetts USA only about a hour from the airport in
Boston where two of the planes took off. On Friday night we had thunder storms and rain... And the thunder scared me.. not
because I was afraid of the lightning, but because I was scared they might be explosions from more attacks.
I hope and pray that nothing like this ever happens again, ever, to anyone anywhere on Earth.
God bless you all on the board. and God bless America, and her friends. And most of all may God's mercy and blessings be with the victims of this horrible attack.

AJR I was communicating with a colleague in the South Tower about an hour before the attack took place. It's only today that I've found she's still alive.
While so many world leaders are talking about reprisals - should we not think about how many more innocent people will be killed if such reprisals are effected ? Let us pray that the leaders will effect restraint in their actions, and ensure justice prevails, rather than allowing themselves to succumb to anger and any further unnecessary bloodshed.
My heart reaches out to the many who have been affected by the hatred of the few.

duncan The mood here was for all out blood reprisals at first but the leaders have been urging calm and restraint through out the ordeal.
The Feelings of haveing war declaired by the surprise atack upon civilians only made things worse. We were brought fully into the second World War by an atack on the military alone and this killing of non combatants sealed any hope of peace for a long time to come.
