my brother did some research, and found out that the Coley family had a castle in wales, but was later destroyed by norwegians. do u know of any way i can find info on that? |

Hi Angels, Er, we didn't have any norwegians attacking castles in Wales, none that I have ever heard of anyway. Unless you are thinking of Vikings, who certainly attacked Angelsey. But there were no castles at that time. Will have a look regarding the name Coley for you. But it is not an uncommon name in the U.K. |

There is at least one 'Coley' family website at; www.genforum.genealogy.com/coley In England the name was well known in Bristol, up through the midlands into the Lancashire area. In Wales it was known in Monmouth, popular around Pembroke, and into Cardiff. It is most likely an English name that has moved from Bristol, across the Bristol channel into south Wales, moving up into central Wales and England. | |
