Is it a good Idea to have a moat around a castle that is on a Mountain? ------------------ |

You would not have a moat as such, but a dry ditch. If it is in a rocky area the ditch would do two things: 1. help protect the castle 2. be a ready source of stone for building. There are many castles like this. Check out Beeston Castle in Cheshire. |

yes it would prevent atackers from climbing up the mountain. Maybe you would have a ditch. |

i would put a moat in if it is connected to some sort of natural spring and the moat is very deep |
