Shawbury moat
Whilst a motte can be described as a pile of earth. A moat is a ditch, dry or waterfilled. Water can still be seen in the sad remains of this moat just south of Moreton Corbet castle (SJ 5521). Perhaps a platform for a house, windmill, barn etc.
