Danno, nice to see that you have been looking through all of the forums. I hope you are finding it all interesting, rather than it just being something you have to do for school. I don't have many books which would suit your age group, most of my books are a little too deep for you and I would not want to confuse you. Advice regarding libraries, the bigger the library the better the selection they will have, and if you happen to be near a big town or city library, then see if someone will take you along. Library staff are usually very helpful and knowledgeable and will help you find what you want, especially if you are polite and thank them. They know a lot more than just how to put the books away. The links below might help you. Just click on them and you will find what you need. http://tqjunior.advanced.org/4051/ http://www.nationalgeographic.com/features/97/castles/enter.html http://www.personal.psu.edu/faculty/n/x/nxd10/castles.htm Hope you found what you needed for model building. Look around some of the links at the bottom of the page and you will find lots of sites with good photgraphs of castles. Decide which kind of castle you would like to build a model of and then see what you have that you could use to build it. Lego, styrofoam, cardboard, papier mache are all good depending upon what you are trying to do. the bigger ir is the more detail you can put in, and then it looks better, but the smaller it is the easier it is to take back to school. Decide what you want to do. If you need more help after that ask again. Don't forget to use the right forum, model making for the model, books for books, or if you want to find out about a certain castle try individual castles. Of course if it is all to do with your svhool project then that is the forum to use. Good luck. ------------------ 'Give me the groves that lofty brave, The storms, by Castle Gordon'. A book recommended by my ten year old son:Scottish Castles Through History Author: Richard Dargie Publisher: BBC Education Scotland (Wayland) ISBN: 0-7502-2148-8 RRP (Price): £5.99 (UK Pounds) The book has a nice mix of easy to read factual information, full of photographs and drawings. The book tells why castles were built, who built them when. It also shows what people did in castles and how they were attacked and defended. Other good books for kids include: Castles under Siege (Richard Dargie). Scottish Castles (Georgeana Phillips). For more grown-up material - ideal for teachers: The Castles of Scotland (Maurice Lindsay). Scottish Castles and Fortifications (Chris Tabraham). Levan |

Chris Tabraham's book 'Scotland's Castles' is also very worthwhile, and gives great detail on excavation works and castle structure and development. As with all Historic Scotland, and English Heritage publications, including those for schools, they are available on line at http://www.batsford.com ------------------ 'Give me the groves that lofty brave, The storms, by Castle Gordon'.
