So,what does everybody think about the Osprey Fortress books? There are four available at the moment:Japanese castles,Norman castles in the UK and Europe and the first one of a pair about the castles of the Teutonic Knights.

I bought the Teutonic Knights one to see what they were like. Pretty good, and the series does give you the chance to pick and choose your subject. I think there is about ten out now, though many relate to WW2 fortifications.

yes, they have 24 books now, from troy to fortifications on the philipinnes with a bias to the last century

from the new ones i find already two very interesting:
