I would like to know more about the Castle that was used for the newer version of The Haunting. Is this a real Castle? The inside of this Castle was the most fascinating I have ever seen...Was that real? If anyone has any information at all..It's name?...or location..? I would appreciate it!! Thanks!

In the credits of the movie are the names of the two castles and the abby used. Sorry, the names did not stick in my mind. Something else I read was that the interior was mostly movie sets.

I have already answered this question on the 26th December 1999, though the answer appears to have been archived. The main interior shots were done in the studio, and exterior shots were taken at Belvoir (Beaver) Castle, and another site which was also used in the film Patton with George C. Scott. Perhaps The Scribe can recall my original answer to elaborate. Using the 'All Posts' link from my profile returns me to this page, even prior to this posting. Previous post also entitled 'The Haunting'

(apologies for the original mis-spelling, and late addition of the link!)

The other English site used, and also featured in Patton was Harlaxton Manor.

HI! regarding the movie "The Haunting Of Hill House", the manor that was seen in the beginning of the movie as Nell is driving up is called Harlaxton Manor. Unfortunaletly, the inside of the manor is not the same as what is portrayed in the movie. That was a set created by Dream Works. What a bummer! I would love to visit a place that has an interior as elaborate and brooding as the inside of Hill House.
