I'm looking for a castle in Bavaria (Germany), I don't know the name but I saw it into a movie of 1969, the movies was "Were eagles dare" with Clint Eastwood, the castle was a very special one that you can't reach by car but only with a cableway.
Can you please write me the addres and the name of this castle?
Thank you very much.

According to the IMDB website the castle (named Schloss Adler in the movie) is actually Schloss Hohenwerfen in Austria. As read on http://us.imdb.com/Trivia?0065207 . When I searched for Hohenwerfen on the Austrian search engine AustroNaut (at http://AustroNaut.at/ ) I found 256 documents. In the first 50 or so the following sites came up: http://www.aeiou.at/aeiou.encyclop.h/h788659.htm - picture and little German history. http://www.aeiou.at/aeiou.film.o/o187a - slow-loading videoclip of Castle Hohenwerfen. http://tiscover.at/1Root/Kontinent/6/Staat/7/Bundesland/ 18/Ort/809/Sehenswuerdigkeit/299946/Homepage/homepage...1.html - full adress and opening hours and picture.
If you search for yourself on the above search engine you'll find lots more of sites with pictures of Castle Hohenwerfen.
It's been a very long time since I've seen the movie but I'm pretty sure this is your castle.

The previous response is correct. Hohenwerfen is very accessible. The movie only made it appear to be inaccessible. Most of the shots were taken on the mountainside to the west. This is a road to the parking lot to the "Eishohle" (Ice Cave) at the top of the adjacent mountain. After going up quite high, the road stops and you take a trail, finally reaching a cablecar station (sound familiar? I have the movie also.) At the top, more hiking up to the cave. It's a great hike on a nice day. Views are awesome!
