Hey folks, Great site! I am wondering if anyone knows where to look for listings of castles in the UK that are for sale (web is preffered but I can go snail mail as well...ie magazines etc). Also, is it illegal now for non-domestic custodians (ie people not born/legal residents of that country) to be caretakers/owners? I seem to remember something bout Scotland being in that boat, but I'm not positive.Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time. Bluewater |

I have not heard of any restrictions on non-citizens owning property in Scotland. Indeed I can think of a few examples of immigrant ownership. There is no comprehensive listing of sites for sale, all I can suggest is that you trawl the Estate agents sites for individual advertisments. Go to http://www.worldserver.pipex.com/pwave/strathc.htm Keep trying, this page goes off line for frequent updates.

When castles come up for sale they appear to be advertised in Country Life Magizine (Web site at http://www.countrylife.co.uk/ ). These are most usually Scottish L plan castles.------------------ Neurotics build castles in the air, psychotics live in them, Psychiatrists charge the rent, art therapists do the interior design and nurses clean out the garderobes! http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/index.html
