Try being more specific with your question.Castles were built in almost every situation, but the builders would try to use the natural lay of the land to their advantage, such as building on a hill or next to a water barrier(lake, river or ocean). The land around castles varies greatly. Some were built in the midst of good agricultural areas or near villages and towns in order to dominate them, while others were built to guard a mountain pass, so they would be surrounded by steep valleys, mountains and forests. Castles can be found surrounded by mountains, water, forests, deserts or green pasture land, all depending on its location and purpose. Hope that helps. Erik |
