hithere are three Landsberg Castles near the Rhine: one in France and two in Germany
Landsberg in the village of Heiligenstein, the Bar region in the northern Alsace, France. The castle dates from the 1200s and was destroyed in 1632 by the Swedes.
Landsberg also known as Moschellandsberg in the village of Obermoschel, in Rheinland Pfalz, Germany. This castle dates from the 12th century and was destroyed by the French in 1635.
Landsberg in Ratingen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The castle dates from 1251, is rebuilt in 1665 and in 1903.
I couldn't find anything about these castles in relation to Von Bakum family, the only thing I found a small webpage with this text:
The Baucom's came to American in 1710 from near Landsberg Castle By the Rhine. Born Von Baucom's (Von Bakum) changed there names upon comming to America to just Baucom. They came here on their own ship called the Brigantine and a Schooner called Fatherland. Bringing with them 12 families of Russian, German and French orgin. My information says that Jaochim and Nicholas settled in Pennsylvaia when they arrived in the United States. Then in 1715 moved to Masschusetts and again moved in 1730 to North Carolina where they obained Land Grants for 32,000 acres in the vicinity of whats now known as Union County,North Carolina
