I'm looking for a picture of a castle in the Winter Park area, Florida. It was on Bear Gully Rd. It was built by Glen Turner and was seized by the government in the 80's and was torn down in the late 80's for a neighborhood. My husband lived in the next subdivion from the castle growing up and after the government seized it they opened it on halloween for tours before they had it torn down. From what my husband remembers it was very big with stone walls on the inside and outside. It had a moat surrounding it and a working drawbridge. It had an iron fence surrounding the whole thing. I would just like to know if there is any info on the web or pictures anywhere.

Hi missy,
as most of us are U.K. folk, or have knowledge of U.K. places only. I don't think we will be much help.
What area of Florida are you talking about ?
I have a good friend who works in the library system in Clearwater.
I could ask him to look if no one comes up with anything.
Certainly sounds interesting.

Winter Park is in the Orlando area of Florida. I'm not sure how far that is from Clearwater. Any information would be great, so far I haven't found anything on it. Didn't realize most everyone on here was in the UK. I love castles and the closest thing to me is the Fort in St Augustine, Florida, I know its usually listed as a castle, but we (locals) call it a fort.
