Does anyone have any information on a castle or castles in France or England connected to the family name of Minard?

Check out the history of Mont St Michael in Normandy. You'll find background information at the following URL: http://www.castles.org/castles/Europe/Western_Europe/France/france2.htm The name Minard is also a spelling variation of Maynard (Minard, Mainard, etc), a family which came over from France during the Norman invasions. there is a Minard Castle in Scotland, in argyll to be precise, however it is one of those later mansions given the name 'castle' when it was in fact built outside the fortified period, the older sections dating from the 18thc. Then it was known as Knockbute, and was a Cambpell property, but was extended and remodeled by the subsequent Lloyd owners.In the 1940's it was used as a hotel, and is now owned by the Gayre family as a private residence. The bay and hamlet nearby are also called Minard. I have no idea if this is the source of the surname, but since places of origin are even in later centuries adopted as surnames, it is not inconceivable. Sometimes surnames come from multiple sources.------------------
