Is there a Castle or Estate by the name of Shenton! And is it still owned by a Shenton! If so where is it.We were told by my family there still is one in England. ( would appreciate any information) sandra pingel

Shenton .. is in the county of Leicestshire. Smack in the middle of many famous sites, Leicester to the east, Coventry to the south, Tamworth & Lichfield to the north west, etc. The ruined castle at Hartshill lies not too far to the south-west. If no one comes up with more details for you, I'll have a further look.

I see from the Ordnance Survey online map there is a Shenton Hall right next to the Bosworth Battle field in Leicestershire. I have no record of this ever being fortified. As to it current status I haven't a clue but if you post an enquiry on the newsgroup free.uk.talk.leicester you might get some info.
