Does any know if schloss Wolfshagen in Brandenburg (Germany) still exists and where i could find pictures or something on the history?Until now, i only know it is build in the 18th century by the counts of schwerin and that it burnt down in 1945. I am now curious what happened to the building, is it destroyed or is it in ruins or is it restored. |

There are quite many information on the web about this castle. A good German language information on the castle can be found on: http://www.reiseland-brandenburg.de/pages/schloss_wolfshagen.html But it was build by Albrecht Gottlieb zu Putlitz. Another page contains a long Putlitz family history and the picture of the castle: http://www.amtgrosspankow-prignitz.de/Gemeinden/Gross_Pankow/info_gpankow/edlegans/edlegans.html

thx for the infohow funny it is that i now know, there are two castles called Wolfshagen in Brandenburg. One is thus built by the Zu Putlitz family and one is built by the Schwerin family. Happily i found today a german page about this castle (of the schwerin family)with a little bit history on http://www.lblank.de/norden/wolfshagen.htm unfortunately is doesn't contain pictures of the castle, which i would love to have. but anyway thx very much Katharina

The Schwerin castle Wolfshagen is actually situated in Kreis Strasburg, Meklenburg-Vorpommern. I have found white-black photoes of the castle and other sights of the town, including the colomns and chearch, the same as in your link, on the site of Bildarchiv der Kunst und Architektur in Deutschland. It can't be directly linked, so go to the main site (http://www.bildindex.de), than to "Orte" in the menu, than click on the letter "W" on the left and than on the "Wolfshagen" in the same menu on the left. The castle photoes are made in 1991, so the show only the rests of the castle. | |
