(1)Outside Dublin in Howth, the Republic of Ireland, is a privately-owned castle where still resides the descendents of the King of Howth, the St. Lawrences. Does anyone have the history? (2) Peckforton Castle between Manchester & Stafford, England has a moat & is situated in a forest. Can anyone provide me with dates & history? Thanks!

Peckforton Castle was built in 1844 by the famous architect Salvin. It was built for Lord Tollemache at a time when there was a revived interest in medieval buildings and art. In other words it is a Victorian replica castle and not the real thing.
However there is a real castle close by called Beeston Castle. This is a picturesque ruin on a hill within sight of Peckforton Castle.
