I am a Construction Management and Engineering student at Purdue, and I am trying to prepare my senior project proposal. I would like to use castle construction, but was told that I have to show relevance to today's construction industry. From what I know of history and castle construction, it would appear that both masonry and heavy timber construction were refined during the Middle Ages to much of what is actually used today, but I am having trouble substantiating this angle. Does anyone know where I can go to find helpful information on the actual structural techniques used in castles?
