Is there a name for the long slit-shaped windows used to shoot arrows out of, apart from "arrow slots"?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi goliard,Yes there are names for arrow slots or slits.
In the days of bows or crossbows these slits were refered to as arrow "loops" and after the advent of gunpowder (ie.muskets) they would have been called gun loops.
Gun loops are distinguishable from arrow loops by larger holes at the top and bottom of the loop and sometimes to the left and right.

Paul.
