Hi all.

Long time no post. Been terribly busy.

The construction was set to begin. All the ground clearing was nearly completed when we hit a huge brick wall. It's called NEPA. National environmental policy act. It seems that since we are building a sizeable structure in the floodplain, we are required to have an environmental assessment of teh impact to satisfy NRCS, EPA, and the Fish and Wildlife Service. Estimates run the cost of this analysis at 100K plus. Someone get me an asprin. Why didn't I buy land on the top of a mountain instead of a lush green river valley? sigh... oh yeah.. How's it going Gordon? Get the book out to Amazon?

All for now.

Very sorry to hear you are haveing even more problems with red tape, are you sure it's not time to sell and find land elsewhere? Like up the hill somewhere?
Gee, in the olden days all you had to worry about was the enemy, or maybe saying the wrong thing to your ruler and loseing a small part of your thinking process.

I have considered the sale.. but won't. Like my Irish ancestors, I will have to be hounded out and evicted by force. You're right, Duncan. The enemy of old would approach the gates boldly and not slink up to your back door and nail a 'stop work order' on a tree. As much time as I have already invested, I will keep at it and lay each stone by hand if I have to. Besides... everyone needs a hobby. I will update as the situation either improves or slides into the abyss. My greatest concern now comes from an endangered mussel the "pink mucket." If they find one and consider my construction a threat... there goes the farm.
