Does anyone have any information on Lochranza Castle. Its situated on the northern tip of the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde. It's a very well preserved ruin. I can find very little info on the web

Lochranza is maintained by Historic Scotland. It consists of a ruined L-Plan tower. The earliest parts date from the 14thC and was used as a hunting lodge by the Kings of Scots (note the title, they ruled the people not the land). It was a Campbell property form 1315, passing to the Montgomerys and from the 18th C the Hamiltons. James 4th attacked the MacDonald Lords of the Isles from the castle and Cromwell had it manned in the 1650s.
