Worcester Castle was a motte and bailey castle constructed around 1069. It was burned down in 1113, rebuilt partly in wood and partly in stone some years later, and a stone gateway constructed by King John was added in 1216. All that remained in recent centuries was the motte, which was leveled in 1830.

The castle stood south of the cathedral, and there was once a priory between the castle and cathedral. The dungeons were very extensive and used as a prison. Henry III was kept in one of them for some time, by Simon de Montfort, after the Battle of Lewes.

Hi luce Cathcart King gives the site at SO 850-544, a large motte destroyed in 1830, if you look around that area something could be left? Chris @ locate castles UK @ www.castleuk.net
