hello, can anybody please tell me when kenilworth castle was first built and why?

got any links with historical information on kenilworth castle(not tourism please) post as many as u can.

i've tried them but it doesnt actually tell u why it was built, and i'm confused whether it was built in1122 or1129

was a motte and bailey at first?

From the English Heritage guidebook by Derek Renn PhD. FSA., I note that the castle is said to have been started in 1122.
