hiDoes some one know where I can find information on the disappeared Château de l'Ombrière, the medieval castle residence of the dukes of Aquitaine and kings of England in Bordeaux, England, which is now disappeared. If I have understood it well, it is from the 13th century, it became the regional parliament in the 15th century and it is destroyed about 1800. thx in advance |

Hi Ipflo, not found anything yet by that name. But there is a building (and area) on a map of 1220 called 'Castet de l'Umbreyra', and also on a map of 1450. Is this an older spelling of the name I wonder ? The area lay in the centre of the first line of walls facing the wate/river. the second map has a futher line of walls built in front of it. |

To be honest I don't know, it could be, the only name I have is Château/ Palais de l'Ombrière, and that it lies in the southern part of the old city of Bordeaux, on what is now the place de Palais. |

Ipflo, will try and place the area in context with the modern city. But it sounds as though it could be the place. | |
