Hi I was wondering what information that you all had on the Restalrig Castle in Edinburgh Scotland...I am a decendant of Leona Ruth Logan who was a daughter of Westley R Logan and Elizabeth Hazelton...I was able to track their lines all the way back to John Logan born: 1420 died 1451 at Restalrig Castle who was the son of Simon Logan.

Restalrig, aka Lochend House, stands 1.5 miles east of Edinburgh Castle. It in part is a 16thc castle which is now much smaller than it once was, being overtaken by a more modern house of which it forms a part. The remnant of the old castle consists of an L-plan tower of three stroreys with steep roof.
The interior has been totally altered, though a number of aumbries survive within the thick walls, and a fireplace large enough to roast a whole cow.
The estate originally belonged to the Lestalric family in the 13thc, passing to the Logans by marriage in the early 14thc.
They were forfeited by James 6th and lost the estate for their part in the Gowrie Conspiracy of 1601, and the castle burned by William Gilmour of the Inch.
The state became the property of Arthur Elphinstone, who was executed and forfeited for his part in the Jacobite rebellion of 1745-6, being captured at Culloden.
The house still stands and is occupied.
It is the registered adress of a carers support organisation.
The following link shows some pics of the old place. http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk/scotgaz/features/moregpix7838.html
