But this castle has always be owned by the German order and later the counts of Thurn and Taxis. So I am not sure if this is the castle where you are looking for.
Not very much is known about the history of that castle, which was standing very exposed on a steep rock. There may have been a family "von Rifenstein" in the 12th century, but it's not sure if the document in which that is written down is true or a fake.

I did not know that there only was one f in the reifenstein name. Thats why it was so hard for me to find any information about this castle.

Wow. I didn't know that one. Looks absolutely fantastic. But needs to be saved urgently! One of the towers looks as if it would tumble down in the next years. Shame on Styria that they let such a castle fall into pieces...
