I'm looking for any information there is about Burg Reiffenstein. It should be placed in Austria, but where I'm not sure.

I'm related to this Reiffenstein family, way back in time.

Can some of you help me with this one ?

I am only aware of a castle Reifenstein/ Tasso Castle in Southern Tyrol (former Austria, now Italy):

But this castle has always be owned by the German order and later the counts of Thurn and Taxis. So I am not sure if this is the castle where you are looking for.

There is also a castle Rifenstein in the Canton Basel-Land, Switzerland: http://www.dickemauern.de/rifenstein/index.htm

Not very much is known about the history of that castle, which was standing very exposed on a steep rock. There may have been a family "von Rifenstein" in the 12th century, but it's not sure if the document in which that is written down is true or a fake.

Thanks ipflo - It looks like the right one you have found

I did not know that there only was one f in the reifenstein name. Thats why it was so hard for me to find any information about this castle.
