![]() ![]() Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The easiest castles to make into nice looking models would be simple square ones either a Norman Keep (see my web site for plans of Hedingham or Rochester castles - I think these are both beautiful castles) or a Scottish L plan castle like Craigievar (Hopefully Wurdsmiff will give some links for this, or some alternatives. The other alternative, which would be a litle more difficult to model, would be the very pretty castle Castell Coch in Wales. This is actual a 19th century fantasy castle but built on the foundations of a genuine 13th castle. Try http://www.castlewales.com/coch.html or http://www.castlegate.net/CASTLES/coch/index.htm ------------------ |

![]() ![]() With pleasure, always glad to advertise the beauty of Scottish Castles. http://www.darkisle.com/c/craigievar/craigievar.html http://www.halfmoonarts.com/fraser/craigievar.html http://www.castles.org/Chatelaine/CRAIGIEVAR.HTM http://www.serenery.com/370Craigievar.html Hints, study the pictures carefully, then decide how much detail you are going to recreate. Choose a suitable material or combination of materials, which will then allow you to recreate the desired detail. Read some of the pages here and follow links. If you know your subject well it makes the work so much easier. There is plenty of explanation on functionality of castles and individual features on these pages to give you a good understanding of what you are doing. Use the glossary. But most of all enjoy what you are doing. If the castle appears pinkish in some of the photographs, that's because they use pink wash rather than white to colour the harling on the outside, giving it a rather unique appearance. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey Same Project, I also have to do a model castle w/ info on it. I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm building my castle out of legos. They also have actual sets of castles that come with instructions. If you are really willing to spend a lot of money they also make catapaults, towers, and guards. Or if you have your own legos build your own model your own way. |
