Go to http://www.camelot-group.com/heritage/castles/floors.html And http://www.britain.co.uk/tourism/pages/F/FLO57SFbA.html The present house stands on the probable site of an old tower house, though in its present form is not truly a castle, since it is a huge sprawling mansion (the largest inhabited 'Castle' in Scotland) of the 18th century and has no defensive features. The present house dates from 1721, and was designed by the famous scottish architect William Adam, for the 1st Duke of Roxburgh. Anoyther famous architect, Playfair, remodelled it a century later. The present Duke and Duchess remain in residence, and the house was featured in the film 'Greystoke' ------------------ ------------------ Gordon. |
