Stephen Biesty Castle Explorer CD Rom (published by Dorling Kindersley) is pretty good for this sort of information, but avoid the game and go straight to the library. An excellent book is Life in a Medieval Castle by Tony McAleavy published by English Heritage. I'd pester your local library to get both of these if they don't already have them.
