Most remaining chapels are small bare rooms. Only where a castle was turned into a major accomodation\part house, do chapels perhaps look like a small church with alter, panneling etc.
As already mentioned a chapel in a castle may be given a fine window because of its high status within the castle complex. There is a fair chance it would have a ribbed roof. In one wall there would no doubt be set a 'Stoup', a small stone basin for holy water.
All other fixtures, cross, chalice etc. would be kept in a special wooden chest for instant removal. Walls would no doubt be painted with holy scenes.

Every chapel is different but the basics are that a chapel is a room with an alter (Generally at the east end of the room). The alter might be of stone or could be a simple wooden table. The would also be a piscina. This is a basin for washing the sacramental vessels. It might just be a basin on a sidetable but some chapels have stone basins put in a decorated niche in the wall near the alter. Generally chapels would be richly decorated with stone carvings (which often survive today) and with wall paintings and paint decoration (which rarely survives) and as rich alter cloths and vessels as the chapel owner could afford.

Hey, DragonSlayer! A Chapel is just a small room of worship. Good luck!

All times are PT (US)
