![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() How could a castle be attacked without using weapons? |

![]() ![]() Em. In the end it couldn't be unless the castle was just given over to an enemy by a traitor (which did happen). Quite often castles were taken without weapons being used, but the weapons were there and it was the threat of the weapons that led to the castle being surrended. Even when someone sneaked into a castle and opened the gates it was to let an enemy with weapons in (since otherwise the defenders would just have killed the enemy). Seiges might happen where no weapons were actually used and the castle eventually surrended because of hunger, but the reason the people stayed in the castle was because the attackers had weapons. So the answer to your question is to get the castle commander (the castellian) to join your side by offering him land or honours or whatever. Otherwise castles were taken by the threat of weapons if not actually by the weapons themselves. ------------------ Visit Castellarium Philippis |
