I havnt got a clu y wells were used apart from drinking etc. My buk sez its 4 defence but duznt say how !!! So cum on HELP ME!! Believe me my teacher is EVIL!! |

Wells provided water, essential for life. If a castle was under siege and had no water, the garrison would capitulate very quickly. It was an essential part of the defence of any castle to have a good water supply if they wanted to resist a siege until such times as the castle was releived, or the siege lifted. |

Ruthy, The best methods of defence would depend very much on the way in which the castle was being attacked, which would be determined to some extent by the form and surroundings of the castle. Most castle books have some information about seige and defence. Erik |
