Hi, I'm a multimedia major and I've decided to construct a multimedia edutainment peice for young children to young teens (about 3rd grade to 6th).

My idea will be a illustration of a Medieval castle and when the user hovers over parts of the picture it will tell them what it is they are over and if they click will bring them to more information on that particular part.

So what I need are some resources on the aprts of the castle. I plan to hand draw the illustrations myself so I really need a source of the parts themselves (walls, moat, drawbridge, portcullis, tower, keep, etc.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've scoured this forum and not seen any of this information yet as well as some of the links you supply to other forum members.

Thanks,

Bryan

Have you tried this site; http://www.castles-of-britain.com/castle6.htm

There are some illustrations of what you are after.

This one has illustations and pictures, but is very limited in its definitions, the links to them start half way down the page; http://www.bow.k12.nh.us/CyberBUS/castle%20and%20castle%20items/castles.htm

It is difficult to get a generic example of each part as there was often great variation, so you really need to familiarize yourself with castles a little to gain an understanding sufficient to allow you to pass on correct information.
I hope the links help. Your local library or university library should have some basic books about castles which show all this information with illustrations. They are often overlooked, but books still provide better, more easily accessible information than the web on such subjects.
