An interesting analogy!The kingdom was commanded from the king, where-ever he may be, and kings were known to travel considerably.
When at home in his castle the king may well have spent much of his time in the great hall, particularly when attending to business, so this would then be the centre of command. The great hall was situated in the keep in some castles, but more commonly it was located in, or adjoining, the domestic buildings.
The parts of a kingdom? It all depends on how it was to be devided up. My guess;
-agriculture/food production, which could be further devided into types such as livestock, fishing, hunting, grain vegetables, etc.
-forestry/timber production
-manufacturing(eg furniture, jewelery etc.)
-mining(eg gold, iron)
-military(levies or mercenaries)Could also be devided up into offence or defence.
-trade(cross border or internal)
-administration, carried out by the lords/landowners on behalf of the king.
-domestic(many other parts relying on this. Includes child rearing)
That's about it.
