Castles are THE symbol for life and the feudal system in medieval europe. They tell you that: - life wasn't as secure as today, people needed the protection of thick walls for their lifes and possessions. - the upper classes needed an architectural symbol to show their wealth, power and social status. - the political and economic centre of a medium or small medieval social community wasn't inside a village, but beside or outside it in a walled structure – a clear sign for an undemocractic society.... and theses are only a few of all the things a castle stands for ... |
