castle1023Can anyone help me with something? You see, I have this castle project and I need to make blueprints for it. After I finish the blueprints, I need to make a castle too. Do any of you have any sites or information on how to make blueprints for a castle OR tips or stuff on a construction of a model castle. Things like what kind of material, sizes, etc. etc. etc. Thanks a lot!
wurdsmiffSounds as though you would have been better posting to the School Projects Forum. You will find a collection of floorplans at http://www.castlesontheweb.com/members/philipdavis/index.html , and hints and tips on model making in older mails to the Model making and School Projecys Forums. try http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum9/HTML/000055.html , http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum9/HTML/000040.html , http://www.castlesontheweb.com/quest/Forum9/HTML/000009.html

Philip DavisActually I think you'd be better posting in model making forum.
Anyway the floorplan for Bodium castle on my website is designed to be down loaded. If you do this and then scale the picture of the plan and sections up to the size you want, then print the plans off, stick these on the cardboard you will have the bases for a model. Some work with sicsors, paint, extra cardboard should produce a reasonable model. The plan is the plans section of my site.

conawayI need books on HOW casltes are built. The construction methods. Im tired of castle designs and history o them. I want a how to book on castle building. are there any out there ?
HelenHave you seen the book "Castle" by David Macaulay? It's a kid's book but one of the clearest descriptions with pictures about actual castle construction I've seen.
Good luck,
Helen

Sounds like your book recommendation would be a useful addition to the Book Nook forum - so's not to steal your glory I'll let you add it yourself!

Philip DavisI agree with Helen that David MacAuley's Castle is a fine book for anyone, of any age, who is interested in how stone castles where built to read. I have a few doubts about some of the minor detail in his illustrations, but these are easily outweighed by their clarity. It is still in print. The details are in the Castle Books section of Castles on the Web.

Hi Helen, sorry to be so long in saying hello.

peteyim looking for floorplans to build miniature castles myself, but i have to tell you to go to an absolutely fantastic sight called www.hirstarts.com this guy made a whole bunch of molds that you use to cast different things. he has a lot of kits, and he gives detailed instructions as well as downloads. the really great thing about his molds is that they are all interchangeable kind of like leggos. he also has a great section on how-to. i cant do it justice by describing it. just go there. search either for Hirst Arts, or Castlemolds(tm) this guy is super smart and has already thought through some real headaches for you. people are making all kinds of stuff from his molds(and selling them). try that .
