Hillsborough Castle is a two storey Georgian Mansion, and therefore the current building is not a genuine castle, ie it was not built with integral defensive features. Many many mansion houses of the period were giventhe title 'castle' to impress their grandiosity. You are unlikely therefore to find pictures of it on castle pages, though given it's current importance, it is more likely to appear on current affairs sites. However despite it's relatively frequent appearances on TV, my first inclination was that you would be unlikely to find photographs of it on the web, particularly not detailed or interior shots....simply because of the security implications given the current political situation in Northern Ireland. I did however try, and failed to find any pics though that does not mean you won't, I still consider it unlikely. I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but I suspect your search may prove fruitless.------------------ 'Demeure par la verite' Visit; Gordon's Scottish Castles Resource Page [This message has been edited by Gordon (edited 01-11-2002).] |

If you go here, you will find two rather unclear and undetailed pics of Hillsborough. As I said they seem to come from Current affairs sites. http://images.google.com/images?q=Hillsborough+Castle&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search If you click on each image, you will be given the option to see the image full size.[This message has been edited by Gordon (edited 01-11-2002).] |
