Steve-O-Gerst Senior Member	posted 01-07-2006 04:34 PM Baker, Chandler, Miller, Miner, Potter, Smith... There are thousands of these today, people named after occupations that were by no means noble. Probably, there are such names in other languages too. Is there a comprehensive list of all of them? Where they came from, what they did and such?
Peter Moderator	posted 01-09-2006 03:20 PM There may well be, but I'd hate to think of the cost of such a volume. I have several general books on the subject. Which are pretty good. As most people are looking for a specific name (or maybe 2/3), there would be do need to access such a book. This is where a good old fashioned general library comes in handy. Peter
