Three good ones to look out for (now from Oxbow Books);
Anglo-Norman Castles. edited by Robert Liddiard. £45: Boydell & Brewer. 414-pages
A special collection of 19-essays, emphasising newer approaches to this subjectCastles & Landscapes, by O H Creighton. £65.
Continuum 2002, 270-pages.
This invloves the landscape of castles, along with churches. gardens, monastries etc.
And for all those family questions;
The Castle Community: English & Welsh Castle Personnel 1272-1422.
by J. Rickard. 516-pages. £60.
This fantasic book pulls on all sources to list castle owners, personnel, constables etc. Should stop a few arguments !
