Author Topic:   Fordhall Ringwork JAS13 Member posted 12-12-2005 07:24 PM             Fordhall is a large ringwork castle discovered in the mid 1970s near Market Drayton in North Shropshire (OS 127 SJ 650326). Does anyone have any details of its origin or history, particularly considering its close location to Tyrley Castle? The site is possibly "Moretoin" mentioned in 1215 or "Matefelun" mentioned in 1195, when William de Botterall was granted permission to fortify a house at Matefelun.
