Hi!

I'm trying to identify a castle featured on a watercolour that I have just bought. Any ideas? Thanks!

According to the architecture, I thought German, Swiss or Austrian. There is an outline of mountains (Alps ?) in the background.

Thanks all the same!

hi,

Great, I love mystery castle questions.

At first sight it remembers me very much of the castle of Sion/ Sitten in Wallis, Switserland. But only on first sight, because as we look detailed at the picture and the pictures of Sion, we see many differences. Which I think are not the result from alterations from the last century. I would suggest the complex is somewhere in the south of France, due to a combination of the roofs and the gothic style of the church.

regards,

ipflo

You're right. Thank you for your reply!

I've had a look at a variety of fortified churches and cathedrals in the south of France, and there are indeed many similarities. I'll go on looking...

All times are PT (US)
